Some of My Favorite Things: December

All month long I’ve been busy renovating the new DASHA® Grand Central office location, and pretty soon we’ll be opening! Stay tuned for more details in early January. This past Tuesday, we had our Secret Santa office holiday party at Lavo in Manhattan. And then, of course, Dr. Pollack is busy with his patients, and we’ve got the kids, too! Needless to say, it’s been a whirlwind of a month just flying by, and pretty soon we’ll be celebrating New Year’s, but before we do, I have to share some of my favorite things for the month of December!

FASHION – Yes, I know the weather report says it will be 66 degrees in New York City on Sunday, December 22nd. But we’ve already had two snowfalls this year and some pretty bitter cold weather. Global warming seems to be the reality, so we’re likely to experience some of these dramatic changes in weather in the future, too. Winter starts this Saturday, and I am all about comfort. For the holiday, we gave all DASHA® employees new black zip up hoodies. What do you feel coziest in? A hoodie? Fleece? Boucle sweater? You are so busy taking care of everyone else, why not take care of yourself, too, and buy yourself something comfy and cozy? You know you’ll wear it. If you’re hesitating, wait until December 26th, when everything goes on sale and there are good deals to be had!

FOOD – The Kobe meatballs at Lavo are to die for! Choose from meatballs with sausage ragu, meatballs with fresh whipped ricotta, or meatballs with salad and garlic crostini. Just writing this makes me salivate!

BEAUTY – I just got rid of my hair extensions in an effort to simplify my life and beauty routine. It’s freeing! Often times, we are reluctant to make change, because staying where we’re at is easier than entering into unknown territory. (“But will this haircut actually look good on me?”) 2014 is coming and it’s time for an improved you, so why not make that change to your locks that you’ve been wanting to do for some time now? And while you’re at it, pick up a good, deep conditioner. Your hair will thank you in the dryness of winter. I use the Moroccan Oil Restorative Hair Masks once a week for 5-7 minutes.

CULTURE – Ashley, our new blog contributor, just wrote an article on how fitting art and culture into your wellness journey can help you to lead a long and healthy life (click HERE to read it.) Darren and I take the kids to a show during the week between Christmas and New Years, so we can enjoy live entertainment for the whole family. Whether it’s The Nutcracker, The Rockettes, Elf the Musical, How the Grinch Stole Christmas….there’s something out there for everyone!

SELF – We all get stumped somewhere in the middle of our holiday shopping. (“What should I buy for ________?!”) But DASHA® aims to enhance your well-being, which means easing the stress of your shopping, and we have a plethora of great holiday gift ideas including gift certificates for massage, acupuncture, pilates or personal training, as well as Tempur-Pedic products, Therabands, Pure Inventions Wellness Drops, Stretch Out Straps and more. Click HERE to see what we have to offer. And remember, if you purchase $100 in gift certificates, we are also offering you a 30-minute complimentary massage! So cross that tough to buy for person off your list and treat yourself to a relaxing massage, too!
