Acupuncture is an ancient medical art believed to have been developed in China, which consists of inserting fine needles on the body’s surface in order to affect the physiological function of the body.  Different variations of acupuncture are practiced and taught throughout the world.  At DASHA®, the “individual client providers” are licensed practitioners  who perform acupuncture, acupressure and other alternative medicine techniques such as moxibustion and cupping.  Many people who try acupuncture, even after the first session, feel more relaxed and notice that they feel a return to balance of the body and mind.

In order to gain an understanding of how to best to treat you and not just your symptoms, your Acupuncturist will ask you a series of questions regarding your lifestyle, emotions, sleeping patterns, eating habits, medical history and a hands on thorough examination to get a better idea of the overall functioning of your body.

Treatment needles are typically retained for about 15-30 minutes. Soothing music will be played to help you relax during this time, and many people even fall asleep during treatment. Depending on your condition, treatments may also include heat therapy, herbal prescriptions, nutritional supplements, and diet and lifestyle advice.

Acupuncture needles are FDA-approved medical devices, very thin and easily inserted with little or no discomfort. The most commonly described sensation is a light pinch. DASHA® believes strongly in the practice of “Clean Needle Technique,” in which all needles are sterile, single-use, and properly disposed of after treatment. Acupuncture has no significant negative side effects and is, as a result, extremely safe and effective medicine. If you have never tried acupuncture before, click here to learn more.

Some insurance companies do cover acupuncture treatments. Prior to each visit, our billing department will verify your benefits. If your insurance covers acupuncture, DASHA® will provide you with a breakdown of your coverage.
