We’re not sure where August went or where this entire year is going, actually– it seems like just yesterday we were food shopping in preparation for that blizzard we had in January. But here we are, Labor Day upon us, and with that, the unofficial start to fall, where the kids go back to school and the adults buckle down for serious “back to work” time. Here’s your guide to things worth checking out in New York City in September 2016:
Art Fair. On September 3rd through the 5th and again the following weekend September 10th and 11th, you can make your way down University Place just south of Union Square, and peruse the work of 120 artists.
Bike the Boros. You can bike 31, 62 or 100 miles with other cyclists who want to go the distance with you. The cost to participate funds transportation alternatives. All bike tours depart from Pier 97, Hudson River Park.
Feast of San Gennaro. Stroll through Mulberry and Grand Streets in Little Italy in downtown Manhattan for colorful parades, live music, and ethnic food, September 15th through the 25th.
Coney Island Film Festival. There will be nearly 100 short films and campy film classics showing at the heart of the Coney Island Boardwalk at 1208 Surf Avenue September 16th through the 18th. It’s also still warm enough to dip your toes in the ocean pre or post movie!
Oktoberfest in Central Park. There’s German beer, food and live music at Rumsey Playfield from 1:30pm to 7:30pm. What more could you ask for? Be sure to buy your ticket in advance.
Free Museum Day. On Saturday, September 24th you can get a free ticket for two people to visit one of 95 museums in New York State. Get cultured and take advantage of all New York City has to offer!
