Refresh Your Snack Drawer & Habits!

No matter where you work, or what you do – we all have a spot filled with treats and goodies for when we hit the midmorning and afternoon slump. We get to this point of the workday for a few reasons; maybe it’s from not getting enough sleep the night before, maybe it’s the stress of the day settling in, or maybe it’s built up from overworking for weeks on end. We all think a treat might give us that little boost we need to get through the rest of the day. But what is it that we are reaching for?

Some of the most common snacks that are kept in desks are chips, candy, cookies and more. These snacks may sound tasty, but if the energy boost is really what you’re looking for, none of these snacks will give you that, or any nutrients that will keep you full until your next meal.

It’s time to give your snack drawer (and your habits) a refresh, and we are here to give you a few of our favorite treats that are easily stored and won’t keep you from achieving your wellness goals.

  1. Millet and Flax Cinnamon Chips: Easily found at online at SAMI’s BAKERY, Wholefoods, and most Health Food Stores. The 6oz bag of Baked Chips are a great source of fiber, with cinnamon and sugar to add an extra boost to your work day. Filled with nutrients, minerals and healthy facts, fiber may helps to promote weight loss and help with various other heath benefits.
  2. Peanut Butter: A jar of PB2 powdered peanut butter will last a long time in your snack drawer. Easily pair with a fresh fruit like banana and apple, or some celery sticks. Its natural, healthy and just up to two tablespoons of peanut butter a day can help with healthy digestion and increase your protein intake.
  3. Dried Fruit (with no additives!): You might not be able to grab fresh fruit on your way into the office, so to get your daily servings of fruit, finding a great dried fruit that has no additives can be a great alternative. This snack will give you a little bit of sweetness just when you need it!

If your office has a fridge where you can store snacks for the week, we also recommend picking up fresh veggies and fruit. Both are filled with many vitamins and minerals and will keep your snacking habits in check!
