If you can honestly say that you’ve never had a hangover before, then just stop reading this now.

Start reading more about achieving wellness, and living a healthy lifestyle. This post is for all the men and women out there who have woken up on a Saturday or Sunday morning feeling absolutely horrible after a fun night fueled by alcohol, friends and a good time. This is not wellness!

You might be the type who wakes up and goes right for a bagel, hoping that the bread soaks everything up and brings you back to life. Or maybe you’re using the lifestyle IV drip – one of the latest hangover fads. While those might work for you, mostly every hangover cure is a myth!

Exercise: this is a health myth, and could be dangerous if you aren’t properly hydrated. Most of the time, a hangover is partially due to being dehydrated, and pairing that with exercise might cause you to be lightheaded and feel sicker after.
Hair of The Dog: treating yourself with what caused you to feel bad wouldn’t be our first recommendation. You might think it helps because alcohol has the ability to make you feel calmer, which would calm down the hangover feeling. However, by the end of the day, your pounding headache will be even worse. It will definetly affect your beauty too.
Greasy Diner Food: especially in NYC, it’s an easy fix to stop at a 24/7 diner or Big Daddy’s before getting home for a 2 am snack. Putting the greasy food in your belly will upset your stomach even more and will raise your blood sugar.

The best cure? Drink in moderation and have a glass of water between each drink; this way, you’re preventing the dehydration, and slowing down the alcohol consumption!

A Serious Note

Remember that alcohol is that it’s a drug, and people get addicted to it! The truth is, alcoholism is a disease, and a gateway that leads to no good. So why do people start drinking to begin with? Good question! Here are 5 excuses why people fall into the trap.

  1. “Drinking helps me deal with my problems”
  2. “Drinking helps me have a good time”
  3. “Drinking makes me high and happy”
  4. “Drinking is cool”
  5. “I can’t have a drinking problem, because I only drink beer and wine, not hard liquor”
